One of our popular calculators is the BIMS, based on the Brief Interview for Mental Status that evaluates #cognitiveimpairment and can help with #dementia diagnosis.BIMS is a structured evaluation aimed at evaluating aspects of cognition in elderly patients. We turned the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) in an easy to use calculator that helps evaluate #fatigue in patients diagnosed with #MS or #SLE. The Charlson #Comorbidity Index (CCI) calculator evaluates the #survival or #mortality risk for the next 10 years in patients who suffer from several conditions such as congestive heart failure or diabetes.It is aimed at simplifying decision making for medical specialists, regarding different screenings and procedures that the patient might or might not live to benefit from.It consists of 17 items, one of which is the patient age and the others are comorbidities that are weighted differently in the score. The NESMS calculator prognoses survival in patients with #spinal #metastases based on characteristics of the primary tumor location, patient albumin and ambulatory status. The New England Spinal Metastatic Score was found to have a superior predictive capacity than alternative prognosis scores such as the Tokuhashi, Bauer or SINS. A patient scoring 3 may have a higher life expectancy and benefit from surgical intervention due to favorable tumor characteristics and a high serum albumin showing a better capacity to recover from surgery.Use it here now: https://lnkd.in/eCj6buYw

Our latest calculator helps you quickly assess against the #NEXUS Criteria for #C-Spine Imaging. We recently developed a SINS calculator that assesses stability of the #spine in patients with #metastatic or primary spine #tumor based on the Spinal Instability Neoplastic Score. It consists of 6 components, from location of the tumour to presence of pain, bone lesions and other radiographic evidence.SINS has proven effective in directing the mobilization or surgical management of patients with neoplastic spinal disease. Other factors that may contribute to surgical decision making in these oncology patients include neurologic symptoms, oncologic subtype and extent, and patient comorbidities, as well as prognosis.SINS scores vary from 0 to 18, with higher scores indicating a greater likelihood of spinal instability and the need for neurosurgery. One of the most used #cardiology calculators on our website is based on the Detsky Cardiac Risk Index and assesses the #perioperative risk of developing #cardiovascular complications in patients scheduled for major or minor noncardiac surgery. The earlier the identification of patients who are stratified in high risk groups, the better patient management can be put in place, along with analysis of the benefits and drawbacks of surgery.Detsky’s cardiac index can guide perioperative evaluation and improve the management of heart failure and myocardial infarction risk in patients with known cardiovascular risk factors. With ulcerative colitis being a chronic disease that can present at various stages of disease activity and severity, it is important for clinicians to be able to quickly and objectively evaluate and monitor #IBD symptoms and response to treatment.Since the 1950s the Truelove-Witts classification of disease severity has been the basis of severity index scoring in UC, without the requirement for further endoscopic investigations.
