Hey guys

Does anyone else while listening to John Sykes, whether it's Whitesnake or whatever ever feel bummed he isnt recording or performing nymore?

Ive got all of his music on iTunes, even added some of the harder to find albums like Nothin But Trouble or Out Of My Tree and they're fantastic! He had it all, the chops, the voice, the rockstar look and the songs. Random post i know but i can't help but wishing he'd make a comeback.

I suspect - based on no definite knowledge - that despite being fired by Coverdale, because he retained his writing credit on the 8 x platinum Whitesnake album that he doesn't need to be driven by financial concerns.

Watched a recent interview with Carmen Appice where he said that he occasionally checks up on John and gets polite but limited replies. I guess he's just like an Alex Van Halen or a John Deacon... Imagine if they created a Super Band called 'The Hermits Flush' John Sykes - Off Topic Discussions on theFretBoard (30)

I've read a few things saying he's been working on new material for years but is a massive perfectionist and, somehow or other, it never gets completed or released. I don't think he'd packed it all in like Alex VH or John Deacon... but maybe he has now.

Being contrarian (that's not like me, is it?) I thought he seemed like an exciting figure when he was in the Tygers of Pan Tang and Thin Lizzy, but I've never understood the appeal of the multi-platinum-selling Whitesnake 1987 album, I find most of the songs pretty boring.

I did get excited when they announced the Blue Murder project, I rushed out and bought it on vinyl and CD when it was released... but it didn't live up to expectations. It's pretty good, but it's a weirdly flat-sounding album. After that, I haven't really followed anything else he's done apart from hearing an odd few tracks.

I prefer the blue murder and his solo stuff to his whitesnake days

Shame John hasn't put much out over the last few decades John Sykes - Off Topic Discussions on theFretBoard (47) love the 2 +live BM cd's, i think he should re-record 1987 but do the vocals himself, he has a much better voice of David C

i recall reading this about him a while back and was like Wow that would have been an interesting pairing.
