Looking for fun yearbook page ideas? (2024)

There are many ways to remember the past. With yearbooks, the emphasis is usually on nostalgia, ensuring that students remember, fondly, the years they spent at their school.

For a change from photos and quotes, and to make your yearbook both unique and memorable for your students, make a lasting impression by ensuring that every time they think back to your school, or to their former classmates, it’s with a smile on their face.

To give you some ideas and inspiration and help make your yearbook the most fun your students have ever had, we’ve created this list of things you could incorporate, which would go well with awards pages.

Fun ideas to include in your yearbook

Whether it’s including games to amuse your students or putting together a montage of objects that are very popular today but that everyone will have forgotten about in a few years’ time, but which will bring back many memories, this list of fun ideas for your yearbook is sure to bring a smile to your students’ faces… Even when they’ve become real adults!

Guess who?

Ask your students, and why not all the teachers in your school, to provide a photo of them as a baby. Include these photos in your yearbook and let your students guess who is who. Perhaps there could be a prize for the first pupil with all the right answers to make this game more fun and unforgettable!

Friendship groups

Immortalise your students’ friendship on paper. Take photos of groups of friends and ask each person to write a short note, sharing their favourite memory. Someday, your students will pull that yearbook out of their drawer and look back with smiles on the time they spent with their friends at your school.

Quizz time

Create a quiz based on highlights that have taken place in your school, or facts about your school, the absenteeism of certain students or even teachers, etc. This is a great idea if you want your students to challenge their memories in years to come. Don’t forget to give the answers!

Fashion crazes & must-have gadgets

Highlight the clothing fashions that all your pupils have adopted over the year and which, fortunately for some, have only lasted a year (leggings with a galactic motif, jumpsuits, UGG boots, etc.). Think also of the gadgets that your students are always showing off (their iPad, the games console of the moment, etc.). It will be fun for your students to remember the gadgets that marked their youth.

School related objects

Collect items related to your school, such as uniforms, student planners or exercise books and photograph them, together or separately, to include in your yearbook or on its cover. To make sure your students don’t forget what it was like to study at your school, here’s an original idea.

Photos of your school building

Some of your students will never see the inside of your school again, or the corridors they’ve walked through time and time again. Make sure they don’t forget any of it by adding photos of your school’s interiors and exteriors, and add a bit of humour by using a gnome (or an object of your choice) as a tour guide. Place the guide somewhere in the photo and add a bubble to your page for running commentary!

Let your students write a piece about their year

Do you have any budding writers in your year? If so, ask them if they would be interested in writing a piece about their year and highlight some of the great memories of their time at school. This text could be in the form of a poem, lyrics, or a short report. To showcase your students’ talent and encourage their imagination, this idea is perfect.

Fingerprints of your pupils

If you’re creating a Primary school yearbook, get the pupils to make hand prints, finger prints and foot prints. They can look back and see how much they have grown over time.

Gossip pages

News and gossip pages are brilliant to revisit in future – report on the top news stories/scandals and fun gossip happenings during this school year so that your student don’t forget any of it. Remember to check with the individual(s) involved that they’re happy for you to include their news or gossip story first.
